Below are some web application tips for provisional students applying for admission into a degree program.

A provisional or non-degree student seeking admission to a baccalaureate degree program must complete a minimum of 18 Penn State credits with a minimum grade point average of 2.0.

A provisional or non-degree student seeking admission to an associate degree program must complete at least 9 credits of Penn State course work with a 2.0 average.

  1. On the Undergraduate Admissions website, click "Apply" on the right hand side of the screen. Choose "Application on the Web."
  2. Log into MyPennState with your Friends of Penn State account.
    • If you do not have a Friends of Penn State account yet, you will have the option to sign up as a "Prospective First-Year Student." Once you see the confirmation screen that you have successfully created your account, click "Proceed to MyPennState." On your MyPennState page, select “Apply Online” located on the right hand side of the screen.
  3. Begin with MyApplication on the left hand side of the screen.
  • Step 1:
    • Biographical Information
    • General Information
    • Academic Information
      • Indicate the number of years of high school study completed in each of the subject areas.
      • “Prior to the semester of desired enrollment will you have taken college, university or formal post high school course work for credit?” This includes your completed, current and scheduled course work at Penn State. Answer “YES.”
      • “If you have taken academic course work at Penn State, please give the date that you last attended.” Answer: Current semester of enrollment (ex. Fall 2008) and the total number of credits taken by the semester for which you are applying.
    • Choosing a Major
      • Indicate either Associate or Baccalaureate degree and the semester for which you want consideration for degree status.
      • You will also be asked to provide both a starting campus and ending campus so that your application will be identified with the correct program and location.
      • You do not need to select a second choice starting campus if you are planning to continue your studies at your current campus.
  • Step 2:
    • Counselor Form
      • This is not required. Select “YES” that you have read the page and click “Continue.”
    • Activities and Personal Statement
      • These are not required. Select “NO” for both.
  • Step 3:
    • Summary and Review
      • Review page for correctness of information. Once the application is submitted, you will not be able to change without contacting the Admissions Office. If there are changes to your application information, return to the appropriate section of the application before the final submittal.
    • Submittal
      • You must enter your initials and click on “Submit” to complete your application. No fee is required. If a fee is requested, check your application information. You may be reporting the number of enrollment credits at Penn State incorrectly.
