9th-11th Grade Students

Once you reach high school, you can begin preparing for the college application process and ultimately choosing one school that will be the best fit for you.

  • Meet with your school counselor early and often. Your counselor is a great resource to help plan your high school class schedule and recommend colleges for you to consider.
  • Begin preparing for the SAT and ACT by taking practice exams available online through the College Board and ACT testing service.
  • Get involved! Participating in extracurricular activities makes you a well-rounded applicant and teaches you how to manage your time, work with others, and more.
  • Explore college majors. Penn State offers an Undergraduate Bulletin to help review the more than 275 majors we offer.
  • Begin researching colleges that interest you and plan to visit them.
