- First-year
- Students who have graduated from high school
- and attempted 0-17 semester hours of college coursework at another college or university after high school graduation.
- Transfer
- Students who have graduated from high school and
- attempted 18 or more semester hours of college coursework after high school graduation.
- International
- Students who need any type of visa in order to attend Penn State.
- Adult/non-traditional
- Students who are 24 years of age or older; or
- veterans of the armed services; or
- returning to school after four or more years in another activity; or
- those who assume multiple adult roles, i.e. parent, spouse/partner, student, employee.
- Military/veterans
- Previous Penn State students
- Former Penn State students who were enrolled in degree programs but left the University.
