Established in 1916, Penn State Wilkes-Barre is not only the oldest institution of higher education in the Wyoming Valley, it is also one of the most beautiful campuses in the Penn State system.
Penn State Wilkes-Barre's Commons building provides a friendly, casual atmosphere for conversation and relaxation. Noon-time programs featuring musicians, comedians and other entertainers are held there, as well as lectures, workshops and presentations. We're also very proud of our $3.7 million Athletics and Recreation Building. Facility features include a large gym, regulation basketball court, three racquetball courts, weight room with weight-training and cardiovascular equipment, health and wellness center, and a multi-purpose room for aerobics, dance, and other activities.
Penn State Wilkes-Barre proudly offers the advantages of an intimate campus atmosphere combined with all the resources of a major research university, located on a scenic estate in northeastern Pennsylvania just nine miles from Wilkes-Barre.
