Penn State University Park, located in State College, is most commonly accessed via Interstate 80 or PA-322.  Please note that the travel time estimates listed assume little or no delay from local traffic, road construction, weather, etc.

By Car

From Pittsburgh:
(about 138 miles and 3 hours from downtown Pittsburgh)

• Take Route 22 east to I-99 north (Altoona)
• Continue on I-99 north as it becomes I-99/US 220 north
• As I-99 ends, continue on US 220 north
• From US 322, take the Penn State University/Innovation Park exit
• You will approach a traffic light at the end of the exit ramp; bear right onto Park Avenue toward campus, away from Innovation Park
• Follow the local area directions

From Washington D.C. :
(about 200 miles and 4.5 hours from central Washington D.C.)

• Take I-95 north or the Baltimore-Washington Parkway to west loop I-695 to I-83 north
• Continue on I-83 north to the I-81 interchange near Harrisburg
• Take I-81 south to US 322 west toward State College
• From US 322 west, take the Penn State University/Innovation Park exit
• You will approach a traffic light at the end of the exit ramp; bear right onto Park Avenue toward campus, away from Innovation Park 
• Follow the local area directions

From Northern New Jersey/New York metropolitan area:
(about 235 miles and 4.5 hours from the George Washington Bridge)

• Take I-80 West in PA to Exit 161 (Bellefonte)
• At the end of the exit ramp, turn left at the stop sign and follow PA 26 South 
• PA 26 will become US 220 south/US 322 east
• Continue on US 220 south
• Take exit 74 (Innovation Park/Penn State University) and follow the signs toward Penn State University
• You will now be on Park Avenue; follow the local area directions.

From Philadelphia:
(about 195 miles and 3.5 hours from Central City):

• Take the Schuylkill Expressway to the Pennsylvania Turnpike westbound
• Exit the Turnpike at exit 247 (Harrisburg East/I-283)
• Continue on I-283 north to I-83
• Continue on I-83 north to the I-81 interchange near Harrisburg
• Take I-81 south to US 322/22 west
• Continue on US 322 toward State College
• From US 322, take the Penn State University/Innovation Park exit
• You will approach a traffic light at the end of the exit ramp; bear right onto Park Avenue toward campus, away from Innovation Park 
• Follow the local area directions

From New England:
(about 340 miles and 5.5 hours from Hartford, CT; about 440 miles and 7.5 hours from Boston, MA)

• Take 1-84 west into Pennsylvania
• Continue on I-84 west to the I-81 south interchange near Scranton
• Continue on I-81 south to I-80 west toward Bloomsburg
• Continue on I-80 west to exit 161 (Bellefonte)
• At the end of the exit ramp, turn left at the stop sign and follow PA 26 south
• PA 26 will become US 220 south/US 322 east
• Continue on US 220 south and take Exit 74 (Innovation Park/Penn State University) and follow the signs for Penn State University
• You will now be on Park Avenue; follow the local area directions.

From Western Pennsylvania and Ohio:
(about 175 miles and 3 hours from the Ohio/Pennsylvania border)

• Take I-80 east to exit 161 (Bellefonte)
• At the end of the exit ramp, turn onto PA 26 south
• PA 26 will become US 220 south/US 322 east
• Continue on US 220 south and follow the signs toward Penn State University 
• You will now be on Park Avenue; follow the local area directions

Local Area Directions from Park Avenue:

• Continue on Park Avenue to the traffic light at Porter Road just before the football stadium and just after the Visitor Center
• Turn left at the light onto Porter Road
• Then right at the first stop sign onto Curtin Road
• Lot 44 will the first parking lot on your left

After you park your car, the walk to Shields Building is about one block.  Walk away from the baseball and football stadiums down Curtin Road, past the Bryce Jordan Center.  Shields Building is the first building on your left once you have crossed University Drive.  The Admissions office is on the second floor.
