The best way to learn more about Penn State University Park is to visit! And, if you are a high school student ready to put yourself in the shoes of a Penn Stater, then join us for Life@State! This full-day shadow program allows prospective high school students to join a student host in classes throughout the day to get a real feel for the "typical" day in the life of a Penn Stater.
Life@State is designed to help prospective students decide if Penn State is the right place for them to apply. Your visit will focus on getting a feel for the campus, hearing from world-class faculty, and learning about student life. Your host will be able to answer questions you might have about anything from on-campus living to their favorite study spots. This program is most beneficial for students who are interested in going beyond a standard visit and really seeing the University Park campus, as well as spending time with and asking questions to a current student.
Students attending Life@State should be prepared to attend between one and three classes during the day. During your visit, you will be paired with a Penn State undergraduate student to shadow classes, ask questions, and eat lunch on campus. Prior to attending class, you and your guests will sit in on a forty-five minute admissions presentation with one of our admissions counselors to learn all about the application and admissions process at Penn State.
While you are at class, guests will have the opportunity to attend a guided tour of campus with student tour guides, as well as enjoy a complimentary lunch on campus! Please note: Prospective students attending classes will not have the opportunity to attend a guided tour or eat lunch with their guests.
Since students are going to class with a current Penn State student, the end time of this program does vary based on class schedules. We guarantee students will be done with their experience by 2:30 p.m., but we cannot guarantee an exact end time prior to that. We ask when scheduling other portions of your day, please do not plan anything prior to 2:30 p.m. so we can ensure that you are able to participate!
