  • Major Requirements: Less than or equal to 42 transferable credits is required, along with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 and the successful completion of 4 credits of calculus with analytic geometry

General Requirements

College of Earth and Mineral Sciences

Academic programs in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences are not available for transfer admission at the University Park campus. Applicants who meet eligibility requirements listed below may apply to start at any Penn State Commonwealth Campus and transition to University Park.

All College of Earth and Mineral Sciences majors require the successful completion of a 4 credit college calculus course for transfer consideration.

University Park:

Academic Programs in the College of Earth and Mineral Science are not available for transfer admission starting directly at the University Park Campus. Applicants who meet eligibility requirements may apply to start at a Penn State commonwealth campus and transition to University Park upon completion of entrance to major requirements.

Penn State Commonwealth Campuses:

Applicants who have completed 18 < 42 transferable credits, have a 2.5 cumulative GPA and have successfully completed 4 credits of calculus with analytic geometry (Math 140 equivalent).

Tuition Advisory

Please be advised that a student’s tuition will increase when the Penn State transcript reflects 59.1 cumulative credits. Credits earned from tests, like AP or IB exams, are considered transfer credits and are included in the cumulative credit total. If the credits you are transferring or have transferred to Penn State place you above 59.1 cumulative credits after the start of the semester, your tuition will increase immediately.
