Penn State Altoona’s 150-acre campus is nestled in the mountains of Central Pennsylvania, two hours east of Pittsburgh, two hours north of Harrisburg, and an hour west of State College, home to Penn State’s University Park campus.
The campus offers students the appeal of a small, private college with the name recognition of a major research university. From the moment students arrive on campus, they notice something special about Penn State Altoona. It might be the groves of mature shade trees that greet them as they walk across campus or the beautiful reflecting pond with the student center at one end and a picturesque all-faiths chapel at the other. These special touches have drawn a diverse student body, including international students who have access to special services to meet their needs.
Penn State considers prospective students who meet one or more criteria to be adult learners. The criteria includes being 24 years of age or older, a veteran of active duty in the armed services, returning to school after an absence of more than four years, or holding adult roles such as parent, spouse/partner, care giver or employee.
Adult learners should call the Office of Admissions at 814-949-5466 to schedule a day or evening appointment with an admissions counselor to discuss your admission options.
Current Penn State students enrolled at another Penn State campus who are interested in transitioning to Penn State Altoona will follow the change-of-campus process.
Additional information is available on the Registrar's Office home page at www.altoona.psu.edu/registrar.
Former Penn State students who were enrolled in degree status and who are interested in returning to the University will follow the re-enrollment procedure.
