Penn State Altoona is located in central Pennsylvania, approximately 45 miles from Penn State University Park.  

Penn State Altoona's 150-acre campus is nestled in the mountains of central Pennsylvania, offering the appeal of a small, private college with the name recognition of a major research university. From the moment you arrive on campus, you'll notice something special about Penn State Altoona. It might be the groves of mature shade trees that greet you as you walk across our campus, past the beautiful reflecting pond with our student center at one end and our picturesque all-faiths chapel at the other.

Penn State Altoona is located in central Pennsylvania, approximately 45 miles southwest from Penn State University Park on Route 220/ I-99.

Housing Information:

Penn State Altoona provides university-operated residence halls for 900 students on campus. Students also utilize privately owned off-campus housing located within walking distance of campus. There are more than 4,000 students enrolled at Penn State Altoona.
Driving Directions

From Pittsburgh and west: 
Rt. 22 E to Rt. 220/I-99N to 17th St. exit. Follow signs for Penn State Altoona.

From Harrisburg and Philadelphia: 
Pennsylvania Turnpike to Bedford (Exit 11) to Route 220/I-99 N to 17th St. exit. Follow signs for Penn State Altoona.

From Points Northeast: 
Route 80 W to Milesburg exit, take Route 220/I-99 S to 17th St. exit. Follow signs for Penn State Altoona.
