“I love being able to study what fascinates me. My classes have helped me in my mathematics and engineering skills, which can apply to work within Reflexion. And Schreyer has been extremely supportive of my endeavors, and I hope they will continue to be as the company grows.”
Matt Roda experienced a late-diagnosed concussion in high school, and now is leading the charge on early detection for athletes. A biochemistry major and Schreyer Scholar from Lancaster, he has developed a six-panel touch screen array that uses peripheral vision, hand-eye coordination, and reaction time to both improve athletic ability and monitor for potential brain injuries.
Penn State's world-class faculty, honors curriculum, and entrepreneurship programs enabled him to turn his theory into a reality. The Reflexion Edge, as it’s known, trains athletes to improve brain functions while monitoring for abnormal responses from athletes. It can also flag a player before more symptoms are present, mitigating risk of further injury. Clinical studies are just the beginning, and soon this Penn State undergraduate could be improving and protecting student and professional athletes around the globe.
