Academic Requirements for Transfer Students: 2-Year Degrees

Review the academic requirements for transferring to Penn State to pursue a two-year, associate degree.

General Eligibility for 2-Year Degree Programs 

We are glad that you are interested in transferring to Penn State. Associate degree programs are available at many campuses across the state and through our World Campus. To help you prepare to apply for one of our degree programs, please review our online guide to associate degrees to help you determine the best fit for your academic and career goals.

In addition to the general transfer eligibility for applicants, students wishing to pursue two-year, associate degrees will also have to meet the eligibility requirements outlined below.

Academic Eligibility for Associate Degrees

The academic colleges offering our associate degree programs have different academic requirements. Please review the following eligibility information:

  • Minimum GPA requirement: 2.0 GPA
  • Associate degree programs do not have specific course requirements.
  • Transfer admission is more competitive for certain programs, as some have limited space.
  • Some programs have specific application dates and deadlines. Please refer to the eligibility by college.
